Bernd Wachtmeister
I am one of those people who devote a great deal of time to analysing themselves in the context of their surroundings. Many of my feelings, impressions and thoughts find expression in my artistic work. They come to light, so to speak, through form and colour.
For me, creating art is a statement of passion as well as purpose.
It might not be immediately apparent when looking at my pictures that they have involved a high degree of effort on my part. It might also be possible that, at first sight, they seem somewhat immature, light-hearted, maybe even playfully naοve.
However, when reflecting on their meaning as expressed in their titles it will become evident that there is an ironic, critical depth to works that, on the face of it, may appear to be straightforward and friendly.
While art is for me both a calling and a passion, I devote myself professionally to visual communication. Since 1990, I have worked successfully as a freelance graphic designer, mainly in the areas of advertising/promotion, publishing and new media.
My special interest is the illustration as well as the design of signets (CI), posters, websites, packaging, brochures and many other means of graphic communication.
In the course of my studies I have been awarded prizes in various design competitions and have become aware that I have a particular talent in colour composition.

1964 - born in Leverkusen
1983 - Examination (school-leaving)
1986 - 1991 - Study of visual communication at FH Cologne (FB Design) among the professors Heinz Baehr and Hans Buschfeld with excellent examination to Dipl. Designer.
1989 - Successful participation in design contests: 1. First price in the telegram contest of the German Telekom (Bonn).
2. Price in the poster contest of the Community of good Light (Darmstadt) -
since 1990 Free cooperation with advertising agencies and support and consultation of own customers.
Creation of greeting cards and calendars for a publishing house.
1991 - Single exhibition in the head office of Sparkasse Leverkusen (savings bank).
since 2000 - Creation, presentation and sale of free graphic works of art.
Different exhibition participations in the area Cologne.
2005 - Founder of two associations within the scope of art and culture:
`menschenmensch ' (Essen) "the network of creative people with social commitment" -
`LEVart ' (Leverkusen) Community of Artists, Leverkusen
