Born in 1973, grew up in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, studied painting, drawing and black and white photography throughout four years at Grosse Pointe South High School. Kelly briefly attended Parsons School of Design in New York City then returned to Michigan and in 1996 received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (with honors) from Wayne State University, with concentrations in painting and metals. During her four years at WSU, Kelly exhibited both paintings and metalwork in four consecutive student art shows. Currently, Kelly works from her home studio focusing on a series of paintings related to a theme of time; as well as wearable crocheted metalwork in silver, gold, and copper.
