I am a commericial photographer and live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I lived and worked on the east coast in Boston for a number of years, then moved back to Utah to be close to the mountains and deserts where I was raised. The traditonal prints are a departure from the manipulated images, because they are straight prints. I was trained in the Ansel Adams tradition of fine art photography at Utah State University. I enjoy the darkroom ritual, and use the zone system to make all my own prints to museum quality standards from 8 X 10 inch negatives.
To me there is little differance between FINE ART and COMMERCIAL photography. I use the same amount of creative energy for both. In fine art photography I make the images for me, in my commericial work I make the images to fit the clients needs.
In the 15 years that I have been in the business I have never missed a deadline and have always been on budget. Art Directors nationally and internationally use me again and again because of my full services on site and of my ability to provide creative input to the final image.
You've seen my photographs in the COMMUNICATION ARTS PHOTOGRAPHY ANNUAL and on the covers of many magazines. I have been working with HI RES digital files for years, I use a Power Mac 8100 with lots of Ram and GIGs of hard drive space for complex image manipulation and photo-composition. I regularly work on 150 megabyte files. I can deliver Photoshop files on Bernoulli or Syquest with a Iris proof.
I like to use 4x5 and 8x10 Sinar view cameras made in Switzerland which are the most precise cameras made in the world. The detail in the negative or transparency is unequalled in any other format photography provides. I work in the following formats, 35mm, 6X7cm, 4X5in., or 8X10in. I can work from your concept or mine. Besides that, I'm a nice guy to work with and I love what I do!
